It’s Not Just for the Rich & Famous
October 31, 2016
When people think of sailing, they usually have one of two specific images in mind. Either they picture the rich and famous lounging about in the sun, or they picture people running around, “hoisting the mainsail” with wind and rain lashing down, and on occasions leaning over the side for twelve hours at a time.
Actually, yachting is not just for the rich and famous, but neither does it have to be about rough weather and stormy seas. Anyone can go sailing, lounge around in shorts and t-shirt and have a wonderful taste of luxury as they do so.
Luxury yachting isn’t just about the act of sailing itself, however. Along the way you get to take in a huge number of cultures, fine cuisines and sights at each of the many possible destinations, no matter where in the world you are sailing – the Mediterranean, Caribbean, or elsewhere!
As a child, I had a topper – a small one man sailing dinghy. Every weekend without fail I would take it out on the river and just sail up and down for as long as possible. Then at college in Portsmouth, I had an Enterprise dinghy, perfect for small excursions along the coast or to the Isle of Wight. Whilst working in my first career as a chartered civil engineer, I had the opportunity to truly experience luxury yachting for the first time.
As such, I truly have a long running love of yachting, travelling off into sun, sand and surf at every opportunity possible. Just as it can be for anyone else, it’s a taste of luxury for myself that allows me to really escape from all of the cares and troubles of everyday life, and one that I really love to share with the world, encouraging others to share this wonderful pursuit.
I would now like to share this with you and tell you all there is to know about luxury yachting, as well as how to experience it without needing to go through all the stresses and strains of learning how to skipper a yacht yourself! From finding beautiful coves in the French Riviera to mingling with celebrities at the Cannes Film Festival or Monaco Grand Prix, and from experiencing the outstanding beauty of Cinque Terra in the Italian Riviera to fine dining in Portofino, you can be sure that there is a huge array of things you’ll be excited to experience for yourself.
Next time I’ll let you know how I was captivated hook, line and sinker!!!
