| ElbaFor visitors, the real gems of Tuscany are Capraia and Elba. These two islands, part of the Tuscan archipelago, lie in startingly clear turquoise waters between Piombino on the mainland and Cap Corse on the northern tip of Corsica. |
| Capri & Amalfi CoastThe islands of Ischia and Capri positioned north and south respectively off the horns of the Bay of Naples are sophisticated, cosmopolitan and with anchorages, beaches, gourmet restaurants and shopping in abundance. |
| Sicily & Aeolian IslandsChic Panarea is the prettiest of the islands, while the quietest are rocky Filicudi with its great cliffs and grottos and Alicudi. On historic Lipari you’ll find spa baths, a Roman sauna cave, plenty of shops and restaurants and lively bars as well as a pumice quarry where some of the produce simply floats away. |
| SardiniaAcross the Strait from Corsica are two Sardinias, divided by the fantastic sounds and passages of the Maddalena islands. Both Sardinias have fabulously sculpted white/pink granite rocks slashing through fragrant scrub, and beaches of sintered white coral, but one is touristy with modern villas, trattoria and campsites, albeit low density by Med standards, the other is Palm Springs by the sea. |
